Learning to Rest

The busier life gets, the more we need to find seasons of rest. I am so thankful to have had this weekend away with the love of my life, Elisabeth. I feel so energize and recharged now.

Jehovah Jireh

God has always taken care of me. Sometimes I wish I understood His schedule and timing, yet He always provides. Jehovah Jireh is a simple Hebrew translation that means God is our provider. Hebrew words are nimble and can be translated different ways (Hebrew has roughly 80,000 words, while English has upwards of 1,000,000). Another […]

He’s ACTUALLY got the whole world in His hands

There are some days when you know that God is in control. There are other days when you have to remind yourself. Maybe you’ve experienced days/weeks/months/years when you’ve wondered if He even cared. I’ve been there. I’m in one of the good seasons right now. I feel like I’ve recently come out of one of […]

This song is melting my face off right now. Seriously love it. Hallelujah. You have won the victory! Planetshakers – The Anthem from swider8814 on Vimeo.

I’m careful not to use Christian chiché. When I tell someone I’m praying for them, I’m careful to ACTUALLY do it. How many times have you said that but never followed through? I have plenty of times. However, I’m beginning to understand the chiché phrase “where God guides, He provides.” Yes it’s chiché, but so […]

Your Biggest Ministry Opportunity

If you haven’t picked up on the subtle hints, I LOVE my church. I love the people. It fires me up to preach to them. I live to see lives changed. The next two weeks, I’ll be speaking at two camps. I’ve had the opportunity to speak to thousands nationally and internationally. BUT these are not […]

The Importance of a Godly Heritage

Four Generations of Burns Men   Where you come from matters. It shapes who you are, what you believe, and the lens through which you see the world. This weekend, my grandparents mailed me a newspaper clipping, that is 28 years old (that is me rocking the number 24!). It is a picture of four […]

One mistake can ruin you

I’m saddened by the catastrophic oil spill in the Gulf. It’ll be a while before we can even properly gauge how bad it really is. I was watching the news last night, and caught a story on the economic impact on BP. Their value has fallen over 50% in just a few weeks. One mistake […]

Thoughts from Jeremiah 18

Ever read a passage of Scripture and find it jumping off the page at you? Keeps happening to me in Jeremiah 18. God is our creator and He keeps creating in and through us. He keeps forming us into the people we were created to be. That process is often painful. Picture a potter. He […]

Next Level…

I’ve had this unique sense that God is calling me, my family, and my church to the next level. Sometimes you can’t articulate the feeling – you just know it’s too strong to deny. To get there, I’m ready to start making some changes. I can never expect my church to go where I’m not […]
